Mrs. Townsend

Welcome to my Science/Social Studies class!

I am so excited to be teaching your children this year!  We have so much to learn, so attendance is important!  We will have Science AND Social Studies lessons every day, so if you are absent, you will have quite a bit of catching up to do.  Please try to be here every day.  It is also important that you are here on time (8:15 A.M.) and stay until the bell rings (3:20 P.M.).  We work right up until the bell rings. (Please see Daily Class Schedule)

Test papers are sent home every Wednesday and are to be signed and returned to me by Thursday.  It is very important to me that your child succeeds in school, and more specifically, on Spring testing, so if there is ever a question regarding your child's progress in my class, please do not hesitate to e-mail me or call me.  To ensure uninterrupted instructional time, the school secretary will take your message and I will return your call as soon as I am able to.  Email is the quickest way to reach me, though, as I check email often during the day.

In my class, I expect students to treat each and every person in this school with RESPECT.  It is hard for students to try to fit in, so we want to try to make each child feel welcome and safe while they are in our care during the day.  We have a strict NO BULLYING policy at CPU (Please see Anti-Bullying Pledge).  Students will be held accountable for their actions if bullying is suspected.  It is a long, drawn out process of interrogations and interventions, so please talk to your child about the effects of being a bully and being bullied by others.  I always like to stick to the golden rule "Treat others as you wish others to treat you."

At CPU, students are expected to follow the school wide G.A.T.O.R. rules, but I have some classroom specific rules as well that my students will need to adhere to. (Please see Rules/Consequences)

I also expect my students to have a positive attitude.  I like for my students to follow the Positive Pledge as well.  (Please see Positive Pledge)
