Principal's Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Cypress Point University Elementary School web-site. Cypress Point University Elementary School is part of the Monroe City School System. We currently have over 400 Pre-K through 6th grade students on our campus. Our pupil teacher ratio averages 20 to 1.

Cypress Point is a Professional Development School with the University of Louisiana at Monroe. With this association comes a lot of support both from and for the University. The strong alignment with the Education Department gives our teachers the opportunity to work directly with the ULM faculty and students to enhance the educational experience for all CPU students. The University keeps our staff up to date on the current trends in educational practice and research. Many of our teachers serve as supervising teachers for pre-service block and student teachers. The pre-service teachers are an excellent addition to our staff for they bring fresh and new ideas to our practicing faculty. Together we are able to offer a unique educational climate for our CPU students.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you view our campus, talk with our staff, and visit with our students. Our doors are always open to visitors. We feel that open and clear communication between school and home is important to the success of our educational program. CPU parents/guardians are our partners in the important job of educating the children of this community.

Working together, we will be able to reach our collective and individual goals. We look forward to celebrating with you the achievements of our students.

Sincerely,
Mary Menyweather-DeWitt
